The branchial pouches are found on the endodermal side of the branchial (pharyngeal) apparatus. The 3rd branchial (pharyngeal) pouch contains two areas: the dorsal and ventral wings. The dorsal wings develop into the inferior parathyroid glands, while the ventral wings develop into the thymus.

The inferior parathyroid glands are formed from the dorsal wing of the 3rd branchial pouch. This gland produces parathyroid hormone, which helps regulate calcium levels in the body.

The 3rd pouch is composed of two ventral wings, which later develop into the thymus.

The ventral wings form the thymus, which is a specialized structure of the immune system, where T-cells mature.
